Drawing from his experience of diving, Eko Supriyanto tunes in to aquatic rhythms. Under the surface, the dancer for whom "the future of dance is to be found under water" examines the precious, fragile balance of the ocean that makes up 80% of the Indonesian archipelago. In this space where gravity no longer exists, where power struggles and identities are laid bare, Eko Supriyanto's dance challenges cultural hierarchies and explores the potential for changing perspectives. Teasing out the threads of his traditional choreographic influences, he examines the potential for a way of seeing that is devoid of judgment and shuns false projection. Under the surface, time is suspended.
